USF NCAA Round 1 11/14/2015
History was made this beautiful Saturday afternoon. The FGCU Eagles were in their fourth journey to an NCAA tournament, but took home their first win, advancing over the #22 ranked USF bulls, to move on to the second round against Duke. This match started badly, with an own-goal while trying to clear the ball with a header, giving the Bulls their only goal in the first few minutes. Drawing two penalty kicks later, and converting on both, gave the Eagles their 2-1 lead and the win. The Bulls out shot, and in my opinion handled the ball better than the Eagles, but the ladies hung tough, made the key saves, and pulled together to protect the goal when they needed to. It must have been frustrating to be USF, and see excellent mid-field play fall apart near the goal, and suddenly be defending against an attack at the other end. Then hugging, lots of hugging. Cliick here for the full story. Below are my shots from the match.
